Welcome to the Twitter-fan wiki!

Since the Twitter folks haven't put up a wiki yet, it seemed like a good idea to get one going out of the community.

Lately there's been a bunch of scripts and other cool ideas pushed forward and it's finally time that we had a place to bring them all together.

The wiki password is tweety.

What is Twitter?

Twitter is a way of life. It's living with a publicity policy. It's friends, Romans and country people the world over engaged in timely snippet conversations that fit into 140 character chunks.

Go sign up and see what this is all about. An interview with Obvious Corp.

Web Apps

  • AutoTwit -- schedule and automatically post to Twitter.
  • TwitterSearch -- Full text searching for the recent Twitter zeitgeist, complete with toy dude-heads. A must! Also maps posts via Twittermap!

Mobile apps

  • Twapper from 30 Boxes is a WAP browser for Twitter with image support, so you can keep up with Twitter on your mobile without the constant barrage of SMS interruptions. More details on the 30 Boxes blog.
  • Jargong -- Jargong is a Java application for mobile phones with which you can update Twitter using a data connection, instead of using text messages. It can also be used to chat using MSN Messenger, AIM, ICQ or Jabber, access your flickr photostream, and check your Google Reader feeds.

Browser Addons/Plugins

Scripts and libraries

Mashups

  • twittermap - See current updates from Twitter users in a specific local area, and update your location in realtime by specifying L:21012 (or L: + any geocodable location) in a Twitter!
  • dealtagger - Let all your friends know what your shopping for with the dealtagger > twitter update thingy!
  • MyChores - Keep track of your household chores and send automatic Twitter posts whenever you complete a task!
  • BBC News - Get BBC news headlines via twitter. Main news feed, and individual news channels available.
  • GeoTwitter - This mashup uses Google Maps API and Twitter API. The most recent updates are fetched from the public timeline and mapped once every minute.
  • Twitter Tube Tracker - find out when your public transport route isn't running (London Underground and SF BART)
  • twitterami - Use Frappr to see Twitter friends on a map.

Hacks

  • You can achieve the same result as the Twitter Monitor ruby script by running Adium - its Growl support is awesome!
  • If you are using the Twitter Jabber support, you can get and send twitters right from within Google Gmail
